Why don’t you apply sindoor to your wife’s forehead?” Mamata Banerjee’s sharp retort to PM Modi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks. She questioned Modi’s naming of the military operation against Pakistan as ‘Operation Sindoor,’ calling it a political tactic to gain votes.

She said, “Earlier, he called himself a tea seller, then a watchman; now he is selling sindoor. Sindoor is a symbol of a woman’s self-respect. Every woman receives sindoor from her husband. It is not something to be sold like this.”

Mamata further challenged Modi, asking, “Why don’t you apply sindoor to your wife’s forehead?” This was in response to Modi’s earlier reference to ‘Sindoor Khela’ during his speech in Alipurduar.

She also criticized the BJP for politicizing national security and disrespecting Bengal’s women. Mamata ended by challenging BJP to face elections immediately, saying, “If you have courage, come to elections tomorrow. We are ready.
