A civil defence mock drill scheduled for Thursday evening in six states bordering Pakistan has been postponed. The exercise, named “Operation Shield,” was planned for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Authorities cited “administrative reasons” for the delay.
The drill was part of a nationwide preparedness initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, following the recent Operation Sindoor on May 7, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The postponement comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
While the drill has been postponed, the Ministry of Home Affairs has indicated that it will be rescheduled at a later date. The exercise aims to enhance civil defence readiness in sensitive border areas.
