The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken suo motu cognizance and ordered the filing of an FIR against Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for his controversial remarks about Colonel Sofia Qureshi, which have already drawn widespread attention. Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari filed a complaint and demanded strict action.
Speaking to the media, Patwari said, “A minister from Madhya Pradesh has insulted a soldier of this country and our sisters. Why is the BJP silent on this?” Congress has demanded the immediate dismissal of the accused minister.
In a viral video shared by Congress, Shah is heard saying, “Those who wiped off the vermilion from our daughters’ foreheads… we sent their sister to teach them a lesson.” (Note: Bong News has not independently verified the authenticity of the video.)
The minister didn’t stop there. He further stated, “They stripped Hindus and killed them, and Modi ji sent their sister to take revenge. Since Modi ji couldn’t undress them, he sent a woman from their community to show that if you make our sisters widows, one from your community will strip you naked.”
The National Commission for Women (NCW) strongly condemned the offensive remarks made about Colonel Sofia Qureshi. Without naming anyone specifically, NCW Chairperson Vijay Rahatkar emphasized the importance of respecting women.
She posted on X: “It is deeply unfortunate that some responsible individuals are making derogatory remarks about women. Such statements not only insult the dignity of women in our society but also disrespect the daughters of our nation who play crucial roles in its security.”
She added, “Colonel Sofia Qureshi is a proud daughter of this nation and a sister to all patriotic Indians. She has served the country with immense courage and dedication.
