IPL 2025 to Resume on May 17 Following India-Pakistan Ceasefire Announcement

With the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, IPL fans had been eagerly awaiting the return of the Indian Premier League 2025. Since the league was suspended on May 9, various reports speculated on its resumption date. Over the past 24 hours, the IPL Governing Council and the BCCI held several rounds of meetings to finalize the schedule and venues.

Finally, on Monday night, the official announcement was made: IPL 2025 will resume on May 17, after an 8-day suspension. The final match of the tournament is scheduled for June 3.

Out of the remaining 17 matches, the venues for the 13 group stage games have been announced, but the venues for the playoffs and final are yet to be disclosed. The IPL will resume with the match between RCB and KKR in Bengaluru on May 17. The group stage will conclude on May 27 with the clash between LSG and RCB at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Six cities have been chosen to host the remaining league matches:

  • Bengaluru
  • Lucknow
  • Delhi
  • Jaipur
  • Mumbai
  • Ahmedabad

Notably, Kolkata is missing from this list, even though the city was initially considered to host the final. As of now, there is uncertainty about Kolkata hosting the final.

Two double-header Sundays have been scheduled on May 18 and May 25 for the remaining group matches.

The Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match, which was halted midway on May 8 in Dharamshala, will now be held on May 24.

In an official statement on Monday, the BCCI confirmed that all decisions were made after thorough discussions with the central government, security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders.
