The government of Mamata Banerjee stood by the families of the tourists from West Bengal who were killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. A total of 26 people lost their lives in the terrorist attack in the ‘heaven on earth’ (referring to Kashmir). Among the deceased were three individuals from West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a compensation of 1 million rupees (10 lakh) for each family of the three victims from Bengal who were killed in Pahalgam.
Mamata announced that the families of Bitan Adhikari, Samir Guha, and Manish Ranjan would each receive a one-time compensation of 10 lakh rupees. Half of the compensation amount given to Bitan will be provided to his parents, and the other half will be given to his wife, Sohini Adhikari.
In addition to the one-time compensation, the Chief Minister also announced that Bitan Adhikari’s mother would receive a ‘Swasthya Sathi’ health card, and his father would be provided a pension fund. Through this pension fund, Bitan’s father will receive a monthly pension of 10,000 rupees.
