SSC Forwards List of ‘Untainted’ Teachers to DI Office for Continued Service

The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) has submitted a list of “untainted” teachers to the District Inspector (DI) offices, enabling these educators to continue their duties amid ongoing recruitment reviews. This move follows directives from the Supreme Court to categorize teachers based on eligibility and integrity.

Under the Supreme Court’s interim order, the SSC reviewed applications for assistant teacher positions and identified candidates free from allegations of irregularities. Approximately 15,403 teachers have been marked “untainted” and will remain in service until a fresh recruitment process concludes. Those flagged with discrepancies await further inquiry.

District Inspectors have been instructed to allow these untainted teachers to carry on with classroom responsibilities, ensuring students’ education remains uninterrupted. The decision provides immediate relief to many educators facing uncertainty while underscoring the importance of fair and transparent recruitment practices.

The SSC and Education Department have reaffirmed their commitment to a thorough review process. Teachers identified as tainted will have an opportunity to present their cases, with final decisions to be made in accordance with legal and departmental guidelines. As the state moves toward a comprehensive recruitment overhaul, stakeholders emphasize the need for integrity to uphold educational standards.
