CISF Jawan Shot Dead in Salanpur, Asansol

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan was shot dead on Thursday evening in Salanpur, Asansol. The incident occurred when the constable was on mobile patrol duty near a coal depot. According to preliminary reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on the jawan from close range, critically injuring him.

Colleagues rushed the injured jawan to the nearby Salanpur Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds despite emergency treatment. The CISF unit has cordoned off the area, and a joint team of CISF and local police officers has launched a manhunt to apprehend the attackers.

Asansol Superintendent of Police stated that forensic teams are collecting evidence at the crime scene, and multiple eyewitnesses are being questioned. “We will leave no stone unturned to bring the culprits to justice,” he affirmed.

The CISF leadership in Delhi has expressed deep grief over the loss and assured full support to the jawan’s family. A high-level inquiry has been ordered to investigate the motives behind the attack and assess security protocols.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of security personnel deployed in sensitive zones. Local authorities are reviewing patrol procedures and considering additional measures to enhance protection for armed forces in the region.
